About	Dr. David Wallace Macky passed away on March 12, 2023, after a valiant battle with cancer. He was born in New Zealand to Mary and Wallace Macky. He was the oldest of three boys. The family moved to Bermuda when David was a young boy where he lived until he moved to the United States to attend school. David attended Yale University then joined the Navy. After his Naval career he attended Allegheny University. He was on the tennis and soccer teams at Allegheny. In 1959 he was one of eleven men voted to the All America Soccer Team. David received his PhD in Statistics from Michigan State University. He briefly taught at University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia prior to moving to San Diego to teach at San Diego State University. He established the women’s soccer program at San Diego State University as well as the girls’ soccer program at Valhalla High School. He served as head coach for both programs, as well as club soccer, for several years. David was an avid soccer fan and was fortunate to attend many World Cup matches over the years. He also enjoyed traveling, biking, hiking, skiing, and attending music concerts, especially U2 and Hootie and the Blowfish. He is survived by his loving wife Carolyn, brother Ian (Claire), and children Brian (Terry), Ian, Christie (Ken), and Diana, as well as his grandchildren Caitlin (Matt), Cameron (Brittany), Connor (Kayden), Cody, and Ashley. He is predeceased by his parents, Mary and Wallace, and brother, Peter (Nancy).
